The pane on the right will list the networks that you’re connected to or have connected to, in the past. Open the Keychain Access app and select System in the column on the left. The only difference between the two is that one gives you a UI to work with while the other requires a command to do the job. In both cases, you will need admin rights. The first is via Keychain Access, and the second is via the Terminal.

Windows 10 makes it really easy to look up the WiFi password but, if you want to view the WiFi password on macOS, you will need admin rights. If you’re connected a WiFi network, you already have the password for it but if you later need to look it up again, you’ll find that not all devices are forthcoming with that information. No password should simply be visible on a device, and that holds true for a WiFi network’s password. This holds true regardless of what a password is for. I change my Wi-Fi password on a regular basis and yes, sometimes I forget what it is.Passwords are sensitive information and they should be kept safe. You’d be surprised at how helpful this hint can be. (Enter the admin password, and voila! The password for your Wi-Fi network appears. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be asked to authenticate (enter your password, in other words) before the password appears. A dialog similar to that seen below is displayed (see screenshot below): Double-clicking a Wi-Fi network name brings up a detail dialog.Ĥ) Want to see the password?
